Sangguniang Bayan Member Hon. JP Peñol was sworn in as the new president of the Philippine Councilors League (PCL)–Iloilo Chapter, becoming the first Pavianhon to hold the position. His election also designates him as Ex-Officio Board Member of the Province of Iloilo.
The oath-taking was administered by Pavia Mayor Laurence Anthony “Luigi” Gorriceta, who expressed the municipality’s support for Peñol’s assumption of office.
During the ceremony, Mayor Gorriceta congratulated Peñol and assured the local government’s cooperation as he takes on his new role.
In his inaugural message, Peñol vowed to lead with transparency and commitment, stressing that his new position carries a responsibility to promote unity and progress among Iloilo’s councilors.
Meanwhile, Pavia officials highlighted other recent milestones for the municipality’s leaders. Vice Mayor Edsel “Bibo” Gerochi was elected Vice President of the Vice Mayors’ League, while SB Member Joshua Philippe Gumban was named Vice President of the National Movement of Young Legislators.
The event ended with a photo opportunity with Pavia officials, PCL members, and Peñol’s family.
