The Local Government of Pavia joins the nation in celebrating National Women’s Month this March, in partnership with the Philippine Commission on Women. This annual observance underscores the ongoing efforts to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment across all sectors of society.
Carrying the theme “WE for Gender Equality and an Inclusive Society,” which was first introduced in 2023, this year’s celebration reinforces the collective commitment to fostering a society where women’s rights and contributions are recognized and valued. The 2025 sub-theme, “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas” (Women in All Sectors, A Better Future in the New Philippines), further emphasizes the vital role women play in nation-building.
Throughout the month, Pavia’s local government has lined up a series of activities aimed at engaging the community in gender and development (GAD) initiatives. These programs seek to raise awareness and inspire active participation in advocating for women’s rights and empowerment.
One of the highlights of the celebration is the observance of Purple Wednesdays. Residents, employees, and stakeholders are encouraged to wear purple every Wednesday in March as a show of solidarity with the movement for gender equality. This symbolic gesture serves as a reminder of the struggles and triumphs of women in various fields and encourages meaningful dialogue on issues affecting them.
Pavia Mayor Luigi Gorriceta expressed full support for the initiative, urging all Pavianhons to take part in the celebration. “The progress of our community is deeply intertwined with the empowerment of women. Through this celebration, we reaffirm our commitment to providing equal opportunities and a more inclusive society,” the mayor stated. With a strong call to recognize and uplift women, Pavia’s observance of National Women’s Month 2025 serves as a platform to celebrate their invaluable contributions and advocate for a future where every woman is given the opportunity to thrive.
