Reaffirming its commitment to promoting inclusive governance and accessible public services for persons with disabilities (PWDs), the Municipality of Pavia welcomed validators from various provincial government agencies for the validation of the Most PWD-Friendly Municipality recognition yesterday, July 2, 2026, at the Municipal Building’s Executive Hall.

The validation brought together representatives from the Provincial PWD Council, Department of Health (DOH), Iloilo Provincial Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO), Iloilo Provincial Population Office (IPPO), Provincial Budget Office, Provincial Engineering Office, the Women and Development Office, and Provincial PWD Focal Person Ma’am Cristine Roa, alongside local officials, department heads, and stakeholders.

Additionally, notable local officials such as Mayor Laurence Anthony Gorriceta, Vice Mayor Edsel G. Gerochi, and SB Member Rhia B. Sotomil, Chairperson of the Committee on Social Services, attended the validation. Also present were representatives from various municipal offices, officers of the PWD Federation, and PWD presidents from all 18 barangays.

In his message, Mayor Luigi G. Gorriceta underscored that the assessment should not rely solely on documents but also on the actual experiences of PWDs who benefit from the municipality’s programs and services. He emphasized that the true measure of an inclusive local government is reflected in the quality of services received by its constituents. Moreover, he encouraged the validators to engage directly with PWD beneficiaries to gain a genuine understanding of Pavia’s initiatives.

The validation highlighted the municipality’s collaborative approach to advancing disability-inclusive programs and ensuring that no PWD is left behind.
