In connection with Proclamation No. 597, s. 2024, the Municipality of Pavia, through the Person with Disability Affairs Division under the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office, successfully conducted the Local Disability Week Celebration anchored on the theme “Innovation for Inclusion: Building Inclusive Communities Together.” Through this initiative, LGU Pavia, led by Mayor Luigi G. Gorriceta, reaffirms its strong commitment to fostering an inclusive community where every person is valued, empowered, and provided equal opportunities to participate and grow.
The celebration began with an early morning parade, setting a spirited tone for the event. This was followed by a singing competition where PWD representatives from selected barangays confidently showcased their remarkable talents, inspiring fellow participants and attendees.
Furthermore, PWD entrepreneurs were empowered through a session on simple business recording and bookkeeping, providing them with essential livelihood skills to support financial independence and sustainability.
In line with the October observance of ADHD Awareness Month, the LGU also organized an ADHD Awareness Seminar with the theme “Understanding Minds, Supporting Growth: Raising Awareness on ADHD.” The session was facilitated by Mr. Frank S. Emboltura, a passionate advocate of disability-inclusive education, and served as a valuable learning opportunity for parents and SPED teachers to deepen their understanding and improve their support for individuals with attention-related challenges.
Together, Pavia continues to champion innovation, advance inclusion, and build a community where every Pavianhon—regardless of ability—can thrive.
