The Municipal Government of Pavia, through its Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), led by OIC Jocelyn M. Lagamo, conducted a two-day training workshop on the management of Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) cases as well as the operation of Barangay VAW desks on March 24-25, 2026, at the Pavia Multi-Purpose Gymnasium. The training was facilitated by MSWDO focal person Claudine Felizario.

The activity brought together Punong Barangay, Barangay Secretaries, and Barangay VAW desk officers from all 18 barangays in Pavia to improve their knowledge and skills in handling VAWC cases in accordance with Republic Act 9262, also known as the Anti-Violence Against Women and Children Act. SB Rhia Sotomil delivered encouraging messages, emphasizing the importance of responsive, gender-sensitive services at the barangay level.

P/Col. Ma. Cecilia R. Detablan (Ret.), president and executive director of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Network, Inc., spoke as a resource speaker, discussing proper case management, legal frameworks, and best practices for assisting victims. The workshop is part of the municipality’s ongoing efforts to strengthen grassroots mechanisms and empower front-line responders in handling VAWC cases.
