Employees, clients, and visitors of the Pavia Municipal Hall, together with learners from various schools in the municipality, actively participated in the Regional Simultaneous Earthquake Drill conducted on Thursday afternoon, October 23, 2025.

As part of the drill, participants performed the “duck, cover, and hold” technique, conducted headcounts, and submitted initial reports on simulated injured and missing persons, as well as damage assessments, to the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) Operations Center.

The Municipal Health Office (MHO) and school-based first aid teams established medical posts to provide immediate response and treatment to simulated casualties. These coordinated efforts were designed to assess the readiness and response capabilities of local offices and schools during seismic emergencies.

This activity was conducted in accordance with the Regional DRRM Council Memorandum No. 75, s. 2025, and supports the disaster preparedness and response thrust of Mayor Laurence Anthony “Luigi” Gorriceta, Chairperson of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC). The initiative aims to enhance knowledge, readiness, and coordination among local government offices, schools, and communities in responding to natural hazards such as earthquakes.

In his post-drill message, Mayor Gorriceta expressed his gratitude to all participating offices, schools, and individuals who took the activity seriously. He emphasized that regular conduct of earthquake drills ensures that every office, employee, and community member possesses the correct response and skills needed during emergencies.

Mayor Gorriceta also encouraged the continuous work of Mdrrmo Pavia, organizing similar drills in collaboration with the private sector, particularly with commercial and industrial establishments within the municipality, to further strengthen Pavia’s overall disaster preparedness and resilience.
