Pavia MHO-Primary Care Facility Holds 51st Nutrition Month Program

To promote nutrition awareness and food security, the Pavia Municipal Health Office–Primary Care Facility, headed by Dr. Carleone L. Borda, organized the 51st Nutrition Month celebration on August 8 at the Barangay Mali-ao Multi-Purpose Gymnasium with the theme “Sa PPAN: Sama-sama sa Nutrisyong Sapat Para sa Lahat!” and subtheme “Food at Nutrition Security, Maging Priority! Sapat na Pagkain, Karapatan Natin!”

The event was attended by Vice Mayor Edsel G. Gerochi and Municipal Local Government Operations Officer Ma. Socorro Joy D. Garcia, along with local officials, Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS), youth representatives, and community members.

Municipal Nutrition Action Officer Dr. Mia Mae Rose E. Apostol led the program, which featured a Nutrition Symposium with speakers Edna Malata, BNS President; Janel May Manjero, RSW, Social Worker Officer I; Shirley Anne Mendoza, RND, DOH-Deployed Nutritionist Dietitian; and Garcia. The discussion focused on healthy eating practices and community participation in addressing malnutrition.

The celebration included contests such as the Poster Making Contest, where winners were: first place – Barangay Jibao-an (Zed Dominique S. Malones); second place – Barangay Tigum (Ciaya Sayuri Hermano); and third place – Barangay Balabag (Jaychelle Londerio).

In the “BIDA si BNS” Cooking Contest, Group 6 (Purok 2 – Jevie Therese Bacarro; Pandac – Rubelyn Gamosa; Ungka 2 – Alhghieh E. Bayoneta) won first place, followed by Group 5 (Aganan – Edna Malata; Anilao – Lynnette Panaguiton; Purok 3 – Joan Ovas; Cabugao Norte – Cristina Jaud) in second, and Group 2 (Tigum – Ailleen H. Herezo; Amparo – Ana Rosales; Cabugao Sur – Amy Bactol) in third.

For the Most Beautiful and Most Healthy Barangay Communal Garden, Pagsanga-an placed first, Tigum second, and Mali-ao third.

The annual observance forms part of the municipality’s continuing initiatives to strengthen public awareness on proper nutrition and the right to adequate food.
