The Municipality of Pavia commemorated the 128th Philippine Independence Day through a flag-raising ceremony held on the morning of June 12, 2026, in front of the Pavia Municipal Building. The event served as a meaningful tribute to the nation’s freedom and the enduring sacrifices of Filipino heroes.
Organized by the Municipal Tourism and Development Office in coordination with the Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and the municipality’s 18 barangays, the celebration carried the national theme, “Kalayaan ng Bayan: Yaman ng Nakaraan, Hamon sa Kinabukasan.” The program highlighted the importance of preserving the country’s rich heritage while embracing the challenges and opportunities of the future.
Mayor Luigi G. Gorriceta led the ceremony, joined by Vice Mayor Bibo G. Gerochi, members of the Sangguniang Bayan, department heads, municipal employees, and other stakeholders. In his message, Mayor Gorriceta emphasized the significance of unity, patriotism, and collective responsibility in nation-building. The program also featured special performances by Neal David Paches and SubUrban5001, as well as the recognition of Pavianhon athletes who proudly represented the Municipality of Pavia and Western Visayas during the 2026 Palarong Pambansa in Agusan del Sur, including those who earned medals in their respective events. The celebration concluded with the awarding of winners of the LGU Employees’ Freedom and Wellness Fun Run.
