To ensure community safety and readiness for the approaching STS Tino (Kalmaegi), the Municipal Government of Pavia, under the leadership of Mayor Luigi Gorriceta, held an emergency meeting on November 3.

The session focused on preparedness measures as the typhoon is expected to affect Western Visayas, including Iloilo Province.

Members of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) Response Cluster joined the meeting to ensure unified planning and coordination.

During the session, the Early Warning and ICT Section, Mr. Elke Jade Burla presented the typhoon’s forecasted track and possible effects. MDRRMO Head Rommel Jamerlan, on the other hand reviewed the preparedness actions of the Camp Management Committee, Logistics, Law and Order, Food and Non-Food Cluster, Search and Rescue, Health Cluster, Emergency Telecommunications, Clearing and Disaster Waste Management, Management of the Dead and Missing, as well as Public Information and Community Awareness Cluster.

Mayor Gorriceta, as Chairperson of the MDRRM Council, reviewed the status of evacuation centers, availability of food and non-food supplies, and the setup of medical stations in barangay health centers. He also reminded the need for pre-emptive evacuation over rescue, especially among flood-prone communities. As ways forward, BDRRMCs agree to preposition their clearing equipment, modular tents, and folding beds, as well as activate their community kitchens for the provision of hot meals. The good Mayor also reminded of conducting response operations safely and all barangay officials and response clusters to remain alert, monitor their areas, and maintain close coordination with the MDRRMO to ensure a swift and organized response.
