The local government of Pavia conducted a training program for barangay tanods to enhance their skills in peacekeeping, public safety, traffic management, and emergency response on March 14, 2025.

Experts from various government agencies facilitated the sessions, covering key aspects of law enforcement and emergency preparedness.
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) provided instruction on traffic regulations and road safety, while officers from the Police Regional Office VI (PRO VI) discussed crime prevention, law enforcement procedures, and community policing.

To strengthen disaster preparedness, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) conducted fire safety and firefighting drills, while the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) trained participants in first aid, evacuation procedures, and disaster risk reduction strategies.

In addition to lectures, the training featured interactive workshops and simulations, allowing barangay tanods to apply their skills in realistic scenarios. This approach aimed to reinforce their ability to respond effectively to emergencies.

Mayor Luigi Gorriceta highlighted the role of barangay tanods as first responders and underscored the importance of equipping them with proper training to maintain peace and order. He also acknowledged the support of partner agencies in implementing the program.

The initiative is part of Pavia’s broader efforts to strengthen community security by enhancing the capabilities of barangay tanods.
