January 8, 2024 – The Municipality of Pavia celebrated the 103rd Kaadlawan sang Pavia, commemorating the historic moment when Pavia became an independent municipality. From its roots in Santa Barbara to its journey through Iloilo City and Jaro, Pavia emerged as a distinct community.

In 1921, a significant Executive Order by US Governor General Francis Burton Harrison marked Pavia’s separation from Jaro, establishing it as an independent municipality. Today, Congressman Michael B. Gorriceta’s House Bill No. 03581 aims to declare January 8th as “Pavia Day,” a local non-working holiday pending approval in the Senate.

This year the Local Government, led by Mayor Luigi Gorriceta, and the Municipal Tourism Office, under Mr. Dexter Dizon, have organized a simple yet meaningful event. The festivities include a Pamukaw sa Kaadlawan Motorcade at 5:30 AM, a Flag-Raising Ceremony, the Launching of the New Pavia Tourism Video, the Unveiling of the Carabao Statue, and the Turnover of Arangka Cart and Livelihood Package.

Local performers “D Scratch” Band provided special numbers to the delight of the crowd. Meanwhile, Tribu Kahirup of Pavia also showed a sneak peek of their Dinagyang ILOmination 2024 performance.
