The Schools District of Pavia, in partnership with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Pavia and Synergeia Foundation Inc., held a two-day Parenting Workshop for Parent Leaders on March 20-21, 2025, at Robinsons Place Pavia.

Led by District Supervisor Ma. Melanie C. Villalon, Ph.D., and Mayor Luigi Gorriceta, the workshop gathered 10 parent leaders and their school heads from 11 schools. Discussions focused on the devolution of basic education services and its effects on learners and families. The initiative is part of a proof-of-concept project in Iloilo Province and Iloilo City, aimed at improving reading competencies and addressing educational challenges.

Mayor Gorriceta highlighted the importance of reading proficiency in the municipality’s education programs. Parent leaders facilitated sessions on responsible parenthood, family relationships, and school-based action plans. Participants engaged in discussions on strengthening parental involvement in education.

Local officials, including SB Members JP Peñol, Ariel Gerada, Roy Gorriceta, and Rhia Sotomil, attended the event to express support for the program.

The LGU of Pavia continues to implement education-focused initiatives as part of its commitment to improving learning outcomes in the community.
