Earlier this morning, the Local Government of Pavia through the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office headed by LDRRM Officer Rommel Jamerlan conducted an indoor residual spraying orientation to stave off the rise of dengue cases in the municipality.
Representatives from the 18 barangays of Pavia, participated during the demonstration at Pavia Pilot Elementary School.
The IRS Team is composed of Dexter Bugna, Jessie Panes, Noel Selose, Katherin Porquez of Pavia Emergency Responders, and Ms. Nemia Sola of the Municipal Health Office. These personnel were trained on how to conduct the spraying and preparations were likewise made before spraying to inform residents.
IRS involves applying residual insecticide to potential vector resting sites on the interior surfaces of buildings, aimed at killing vectors before they can transmit pathogens to humans.
Although the cases are expected to rise in the province, the local government under the leadership of Mayor Luigi Gorriceta assures that they will continue efforts to mitigate the effects of dengue, to reduce the cases this year.
