The iconic heart of Pavia is poised for a significant transformation. Early this morning, a technical team from the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) arrived in the municipality to conduct a formal ocular inspection of the Pavia Public Plaza, signaling the next phase of a major development undertaking.

Leading the delegation were Architect Mark Honrado and Engineer Ena Catap, who meticulously surveyed the grounds to assess the site’s potential for the proposed Plaza Development Project. TIEZA officials were assisted by Hon. SB Member Ariel Gerada, Committee on Tourism Chair, Engr. Analina Puerto, Municipal Engineer, Engr. William Pillora, and Arch. Rex Alimpulo.

The ambitious project, which carries a budget of Fifty Million Pesos (Php 50,000,000.00), serves as the flagship priority of Mayor Luigi Gorriceta. The initiative aims to elevate the plaza from a simple town square into a modern, tourist-friendly landmark that honors Pavia’s unique heritage while providing a world-class recreational space for its citizens.

During the visit, Mayor Gorriceta emphasized that the revitalization of the plaza is more than just an aesthetic upgrade. “This project is about creating a hub that reflects the progress of our town. We want a space that is not only functional and beautiful but one that fosters community pride and draws visitors to our local economy,” the Mayor stated.

The TIEZA officials spent the morning analyzing the plaza’s layout, infrastructure requirements, and environmental considerations to ensure that the proposed designs align with national development standards. As the primary funding and oversight agency, TIEZA’s involvement is a crucial milestone in bringing the municipal government’s vision to fruition.

Local residents, who watched as the technical team traversed the plaza grounds, expressed optimism about the proposed overhaul. Once completed, the revamped plaza is expected to feature upgraded landscaping, improved lighting, and modern facilities designed to host major municipal events and provide a comfortable gathering space for families.
With the ocular inspection complete, the project moves closer to its implementation phase. For the people of Pavia, the P50-million investment represents a bright future for their town square—promising a vibrant, revitalized space that will serve as the pride of the municipality for years to come.
