Pavia was named the Most Senior Citizen-Friendly Municipality in Iloilo by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) during the Elderly Filipino Week Culminating Activity at Casa Real de Iloilo on October 31, 2024. The recognition, under the theme “Senior Citizens – Building the Nation, Inspiring Generations,” acknowledges Pavia’s dedication to enhancing senior citizen welfare through impactful initiatives.
Mayor Luigi Gorriceta accepted the award from PSWDO Acting Head Rani Melvi Cuarte, Technical Assistance Division Chief Ann Rapunzal Ganzon, and Project Evaluation Officer Ma. Theresa Comoda.
The programs, led by Pavia’s Office of Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) under the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) and overseen by OSCA Head Judy Hollero, include Senior Citizens’ Week activities like Walk for Life and Pavia Sayaw, promoting wellness through dance, as well as free eye check-ups, eyeglasses, assistive devices, and an e-bike livelihood program for elderly sikad drivers.
