GENERAL FEATURES
Barangay Pagsanga-an, Pavia, Iloilo is one of the eighteen barangays in the Municipality of Pavia with an area of 149 hectares composing of 5 puroks.
It is situated in the southeastern portion of the municipality on the outskirt of the City of Iloilo and accessible through a provincial road connecting to Barangay Tigum, Cabugao Norte, Poblacion and Iloilo City.
Demography
The Barangay has a total population of 1,457 based on the National Statistics Office (NSO) 2007 Census of Population. It is composed of 323 households.
Land Use
The land area of the Barangay is placed at one hundred forty nine (149) hectares. Land uses are devoted principally to rice production with one hundred thirty (130) hectare. Others are devoted to vegetables and root crops gardening. Remaining areas are devoted to housing facilities.
Economic Resources
Rice is the the main agricultural crop of the barangay with one hundred thirty (130) hectares planted in 2007 and with the production of 19,500 cavans.
Other growing crops include corn, mango, banana, tomato, watermelon, eggplant, and other green leafy vegetables.
Livestock and poultry include carabaos, swine, cattle, goats, ducks, geese, and turkeys.
Communication Utilities
Power is supplied by Iloilo Electric Cooperative (ILECO I). No telephone line installation, many have cellular phones and few have handsets radio equipments. Handsets are provided by the municipality to communicate with the barangay.
Water System
Irrigation water is supplied by Aganan-Sta. Barbara River Irrigation System.
