Pavia joins in “HUBLAG: Hulag Barangay! Lihok sang Amnestiya Ginasuporta.”

Hulag Barangay! Lihok sang Amnestiya Ginasuporta or HUBLAG highlights the participation of barangays in real property tax collection. 

It is an initiative that aims to step up the information campaign of the province’s real property tax amnesty in the grass root level and enjoin taxpayers to pay their dues before the tax relief is over.

PNHS bags Best Regional Implementer for Brigada Eskwela 2014

Pavia National High School was recently adjudged as the Best Regional Implementer for Brigada Eskwela Program 2014.

Brigada Eskwela is a DepEd sanctioned activity which encourages the collaboration of stakeholders in bringing the spirit of volunteerism.

The Brigada Eskwela Program was embraced by different organizations supported by the active participation of the teachers headed by Mrs. Delorah Cecilia L. Fantillo, the parents, the students, and the Local Government Unit thru the leadership of Mayor Michael B. Gorriceta.

A Twist in the 23rd Tigkaralag Festival

In consonance with the annual celebration of All Saint’s and All Soul’s Day, Pavianhons has their own unique and local way of celebrating it. To prepare the people for the November 1 and 2 celebrations, barangay folks come and work together to tell or fascinate themselves with folktale, folklore and myths. They create stories out of their experiences and observations into dramas and had them presented on stage giving birth to “Kalag-Kalag” Festival or “Tigkaralag” Festival inspired by then SB Member Hon. Cecilia H. Capadosa.

Pavia Lolo’s and Lola’s Celebrates Elderly Filipino week

The Office of the Senior Citizen Affairs (OSCA), Municipal Social Welfare And Development Office and the Local Government of Pavia has launched the Elderly Filipino Week (EFW) celebration which started  last October 1 and will culminate this October 7, 2014.

The Elderly Filipino Week celebration is pursuant to Proclamation No. 470 issued by former President Fidel V. Ramos on September 26, 1994.  The event aims to increase public awareness on the different issues concerning the older persons’ sector.

2nd District Towns Strengthen Organization thru Sports

THE eight towns in Iloilo’s second district strengthened their organization thru the First 2nd Iloilo Integrated Area Development  Basketball Cup. The participating teams are New Lucena, Sta. Barbara, Leon, San Miguel, Alimodian, Pavia, Leganes and Zarraga.

The opening ceremony was held at New Lucena Gymnasium. Invited as guests the eight Municipal Mayors of the 2nd District of Iloilo.

SPO3 Sotomil among 2014 Dangal ng Bayan Awardees

SPO3 Rhia B. Sotomil of the Pavia Municipal Police Station was honored by the Civil Service Commission on September 4, 2014 as one of the regional winner of the prestigious Dangal ng Bayan Award.

This year, six (6) out of thirty seven (37) nominees from Western Visayas were chosen as semi-finalists in the Honor Awards Program which is an annual Search for Outstanding Public Officials and Employees.

Mayor Mike leads “Ligtas Tigdas” Campaign in Pavia

The local government unit of Pavia, headed by Mayor Michael B. Gorriceta, launched the municipal-wide Ligtas Tigdas Campaign of the Department of Health last September 1, 2014 in front of Pavia Municipal Building.

According to the president.gov.ph website, some 11 million to 13 million people in the country are at risk from measles, polio and rubella (German Measles). Thus, the Department of Health has asked the public to cooperate in eradicating the preventable diseases.

Pavia celebrates Nat'l. Disability Prevention & Rehabilitation Week

With this year’s theme, “Talino at Paninindigan ng taong May Kapansanan: Pasaporte sa Kaunlaran,“ Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in the Municipality of Pavia celebrated the National Disability Prevention & Rehabilitation (NDPR) Week with a program in Pavia Public Plaza.

The week-long celebration is celebrated annually nationwide. It is aimed to stimulate public awareness on disability and encourage citizens to take active responsibility in uplifting the economic and social conditions of Persons with Disabilities in the country.

US Peace Corps. Conducts Youth Leadership Training at Pavia

US Peace Corps. Philippines conducted a Youth Leadership Training last August 26-27, 2014 at Pavia Covered Gym. It was participated by out-of-school youths and the students of Alternative Learning System (ALS) of the municipality. The leadership training focused mainly on becoming a good and effective leader. It also aimed to boost self-confidence, enhance and utilize talents of every individual who attended the activity.
