GENERAL FEATURES
Brief History
This barangay, (barrio in older times) has always been called“BALABAG”. Balabag is a hiligaynon word which means “placed or laid across”. It can also mean “to thwart, obstruct, hinder or block”. It also refers to something that is placed in a perpendicular position.
The barrio was named Balabag because of an old trail in the place which ran perpendicular to two other old trails, south and north of the barrio. The southern and northern trails ran parallel to each other. The trail that connected Balabag to other barrios lay thwart the said trails.
An adjacent sitio which is now part of the Barangay Aganan was named “Durog” meaning parallel of or at the side of.
